What the popular press had to say.....
NICHOLAS DE JONGH for THE EVENING STANDARD says, "I was surprisingly held in LaBute’s almost vice-like grip, kept in mystified suspense about just what people are up to in Michael Attenborough’s taut production." CHARLES SPENCER for THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "The writing is surprisingly dull and workaday by LaBute's standards...dark, flawed play." MICHAEL BILLINGTON for THE GUARDIAN says, "We are used to LaBute saying the supposedly unsayable; but, in arguing that seduction of a minor is preferable to sustained beating, he relies too much on selective and partial evidence. To put it bluntly, the play is too narrow in focus to deal adequately with such weighty issues." JASON BEST for THE STAGE says, "superbly acted...powerful drama."
